Isabel Marti

isabel martiI love change, new challenges and learning. I am very passionate about life and all that it has to offer. Having worked on numerous community development projects abroad, I feel that I bring this richness and diversity to others.

What excites me the most is discovering what people are all about. I feel that my curiosity, open-mindedness and sense of humour help to create trusting relationships where people are comfortable to explore new possibilities and openly speak about their fears and concerns. Through encouragement, patience and respect, I have witnessed the excitement in the eyes of those I am engaged with as they recognize just how capable they are. Seeing their confidence grow is what gives my work and life purpose.

While working in Kosovo on the De-Institutionalization Project, I had the privilege to help with the integration of 5 children into a community school – a philosophy that was initially met with great resistance. Through education, regular involvement and my passion for doing what was in their best interest, these 5 children were accepted and supported into a regular classroom setting. This project was so successful that at the end of the year, the children were formally celebrated for the remarkable physical and intellectual achievements they had demonstrated. This experience fills my heart with joy and love.

I would describe myself as easy-going, good-humoured and curious – qualities that I believe help me to be present and really listen deeply as a Facilitator.
