Seeding Innovation Through Knowledge Workshop Series

The Seeding Innovation Through Knowledge Workshop Series are an extensive series of knowledge-transfer workshops and conferences, in both official languages, across the Upper Eastern Region. Our goal is to raise the resilience of adults with developmental disabilities, their families and the developmental sector staff across the Upper Eastern Region to support independent, safe and person-directed lives in community.

System Navigation with DSO and ODSP: Ottawa – February 24, 2019

Join us for a catered day-long event with presentations and group discussions to answer questions about important resources and information for your loved one living with a disability. Join Leanne Chevrier & Douglas Poirier from March of Dimes in the morning as they present about ODSP Employment supports and answer your questions. Want more information about the DSO, their assessment and how to understand their packages? In the afternoon Karla Hough will show you how to navigate and use the DSO.

The workshop is aimed at parents, siblings, caregivers, and professionals

Designing Your Family Life: Ottawa – March 30, 2019

Citizen Advocacy is thrilled to be hosting the Sibling Collaborative for a day-long workshop for adult siblings of someone with a developmental disability. Join Helen Ries and Eric Goll, co-founders of the Sibling Collaborative, as they present and lead discussions on the experiences and challenges of being an adult sibling.

Are you in a caregiving role and struggling to navigate the social system to meet your family’s needs? Are you interested in connecting with other adult siblings and creating a more positive vision of the future for you and your family? Helen and Eric will give you the tools to create a supportive and loving home for your sibling, and to live a full and happy life yourself.

This subsidized workshop is for siblings of individuals living with developmental disabilities.
